Reporting on autonomous vehicles & emerging technology — where technology meets human experience

Julia Pickar

I report on autonomous vehicles and emerging technology, telling the stories of where technology meets human experience: the cities absorbing it, the regulators scrambling to keep up, the communities deciding whether to trust it.

A strategic storyteller with 15+ years of turning complex, technical ideas into clear, compelling narratives people actually care about — I bring journalism, policy fluency, and research depth to advocacy and education efforts that build public understanding around autonomous mobility, city infrastructure, and AI transformation.

My work appears on Marketplace, NPR, Oregon Public Broadcasting, Harvard Business Review, Forbes, Fast Company, and more. I hold a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University and completed an internship at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce.
